Mount Edgcumbe District Scout Council celebrated its centenary year with a St George's Day service and parade. Highlights of the day included music by the Band of HM Royal Marines Plymouth and Rame Peninsula Male Voice Choir as well as the cutting of a cake by Robbie Rider, a former district commissioner for Mount Edgcumbe. The day ended with a tree-planting ceremony which included the planting of three specimens. One tree was planted by the Earl of Scouting, the others were planted by Maureen Carvell, and Mike Pearn, chairman of Mount Edgcumbe Scout Council. Mr Pearn said: 'The day went very well and it was absolutely fantastic. It was enjoyed by everyone and it was nice to see all the troops come up from Cornwall.'
