YOUTH Community groups in South East Cornwall have benefitted after being awarded £1,100 in grants from the Co-operative. The boys from the 1st Callington Scout Group received the largest grant, getting £500. After celebrating 100 years of the movement, with thousands of other scouts, the donated money was used for camping fees, as well as food and transport for the trip. The awarded money comes from the Co-operative's Community Fund, which is part of the Co-operative Group's membership share of profits scheme, allowing members to donate all or part of their twice yearly payouts to worthy causes. Andrew North, the Co-operative Group regional secretary, said: 'The community fund can make a real and lasting contribution to local communities and we are delighted to support these worthwhile local groups. 'Many community groups share our values and could benefit from an award, and we would certainly like to hear from them.' St Dominic Football Club and the St Cleer WI also received donations.
