Corn beef, boiled potatoes and jelly to follow: one of the treats on the menu for a Cornish Scouts’ annual camp in 1928. The menu is just one of the items planned to feature in a new archive about the Scouting movement.

Cornwall Council’s Archives and Cornish Studies Service is launching its new project at this year’s Royal Cornwall Show, opening today in Wadebridge (June 9 to 11).

‘Scouting for History’, being run in partnership with Cornwall Scouts, is designed to create a Scout collection at the new Kresen Kernow archive centre. Store The project aims to collate, list and store documents, photos and memorabilia telling the story of Scouting in Cornwall. There will be opportunities for Scouts of all ages to get involved, learn about Scouting, and work towards badges for history and heritage. The project is at stand number 87.

If you would like to contribute to the project please contact the team at Cornwall Record Office on 01872 324321 or by email at cro@ cornwall.gov.uk.
