A SCHOOLTEACHER who stepped out of the classroom and into the guise of a sparkling princess has been reprising her walks for charity.

Becca Drury, who teaches the Reception class at St Martin’s Primary School in Liskeard, became a well-known figure during the first lockdown as she carried out ‘Princess Walks’ to bring good cheer during her daily exercise.

Having recently moved to a new home in Saltash, Becca is continuing her walks to raise money for Cancer Research UK both in Saltash and in Liskeard.

She’s also to be found on Facebook at Princess Daily Walks, where local businesses in both towns recently donated £100 worth of items for a hamper to be raffled.

Becca joined the Liskeard Lions Santa Tour on Saturday and has also been walking as Princess Belle in Saltash.

It’s the combination of community and charity that Becca says motivates her to keep walking even when the weather is not the best.

“I know it sounds cheesy,” she said, “but it’s just seeing the smiley faces of the children and bringing some cheer after such a rubbish year.”

Look out for Becca on her walks with the Lions this evening in Liskeard and in Saltash on Monday – and to make a donation, look for the Princess Daily Walks page on Facebook.Becca will also be appearing on Liskeard Radio's Ambling to Lunch show on Monday.
