A TOTAL of £3,500 was raised by Torpoint school in their recent one off event in aid of the tsunami appeal last week. The day itself consisted of educational assemblies and workshops where students learnt how the disaster happened, the effect it has had on the whole world and how the countries affected now go about rebuilding their lives. The students donated their own money - either their pocket money or money they had earned - and it was used to build a huge money tower. Notes and coins came flooding in and by lunchtime the total had reached in excess of £500. The event finished in an evening Tsunami Musical Concert where a group of students from each year performed a song for an audience of 250 parents, students and members of the local community. A fundraising auction completed the activities for the day.
