Students at Looe Community School were recently given a special video presentation during an assembly by The Arthogryposis Group (TAG), and through various events raised £130 for the charity.
Mrs Ann McCartney, who is well known for her work as pianist with the school band, and her husband Michael who is national chairman of the Group, have an 18 year old daughter Eleanor who is wheelchair bound because of the disease, which is a rare condition which stiffens the joints.
She is presently a student at the Dame Hannah Rogers School in Ivybridge where she is involved in further education.
The couple also have another daughter Bryony, who is in Year 9 at Looe School, and the family say they were very grateful for the opportunity to highlight this little known condition, and for the school's support
