The latest league tables for how secondary school pupils in Cornwall are performing in their
GCSEs were released on Wednesday.
The percentage of students achieving five or more A*-C grades (including maths and English) at schools in South East Cornwall varies from 43 per cent to 56 per cent. Callington Community College achieved 56 per cent, closely followed by saltash.net community school with 53 per cent and Torpoint Community College with 52 per cent.
Headteacher at saltash.net community school Isobel Bryce said: 'We are particularly pleased that our results continue the upward trend that we have seen over the last four years.'
Forty-five per cent of students at Looe Community School celebrated five or more A*-C grades, while Liskeard School and Community College and Fowey Community College each attained 43 per cent.
Headteacher at Looe Community School Heather Jenkins said: 'I would like to congratulate all students and teachers on their results as we know that they, together with parents, feel the pressure to do well and want to achieve.'
In Cornwall, the average figure – at 53.8 per cent – was up slightly on the national average of 53.4 per cent.
Poltair School at St Austell was at the bottom of the league table for Cornwall with a percentage of 36, while Truro High School topped the table with 96 per cent.
