Two new initiatives aimed at making the most vulnerable residents and visitors feel at ease are set to be launched in a town on Saturday.

Looe Town Council has become part of both the Safe Places and Purple Angels schemes, in partnership with Liskeard Job Centre.

Looe now has 11 Safe Places - businesses and venues where vulnerable adults carrying a membership card can be sure to find a calming, welcoming place in case of a personal emergency.

Meanwhile, 26 businesses and organisations have signed up to phase one of the dementia-friendly Purple Angels scheme this summer. Those with dementia and their carers can enter a premises displaying the Purple Angels logo and be confident of receiving a respectful, patient and friendly welcome.
