A LOOE couple who were victims of internet scams have had their money refunded.

Tim and June Topham, from Looe, fell victim to two separate scams, similar to those reported recently.

'My wife ordered what she thought was a free pot of face cream while on the Boots website, with just the postage of £4.95 to pay,' explained Tim.

'Then we found the sum of £98.37 had been deducted from our account and paid to PPI Flawlesseffect.

'A similar thing happened to me when I was ordering an item from Julippa,' he continued.

Discovered

'The garment was received, but we then discovered that unbeknown to us, the sum of £10 had been taken from our account on three occasions by Shopperdisc.co.uk

'This would have continued each month, and because it was a relatively small amount, we may not have picked up on it.

'We had no idea at all that we had agreed to these transactions,' said Tim.

The couple say that their bank, the Co-operative, was helpful when retrieving their cash: 'We simply called our bank and explained the situation.

'If my memory is correct they actually gave us the numbers to call.

'They also said we could ring their debit card line if we didn't get any joy,' Tim continued.

'However, when we contacted these people, they refunded the money without much fuss.'
