The Tamar Bridge visitor centre is now opening from Monday to Thursday between 9am and 5pm, and on Fridays between 9am and 3.30pm.
Due to enquiries from local people that are normally at work during these times the Tamar Bridge Project Team also opened the centre on Saturday February 5 and will again on Saturday March 11 between 9am and midday.
The centre has two models of the bridge showing how it will look when the strengthening and widening work is complete. There are also displays and a video explaining why the work needs to the carried out and how the project team are going to achieve it. A representative of the team is available to discuss the project and answer any questions.
Since April 1999 the centre has had thousands of visitors from local residents to school groups and tourists. Daytime visits can be arranged for groups of up to 30 people by contacting Lee McIver on 01752 360066.
The centre is located inside the site offices, in the Tamar Bridge car park on the Plymouth side of the bridge. If the Saturday openings prove popular the team will consider opening on further Saturdays during the year.
