Sail past for
golden jubilee
THE River Tamar will be filled with boats over the Golden Jubilee weekend, as a grand sail past has been organised.
It is hoped that nearly 100 boats will take part in the event and Saltash Sailing Club hopes that its boats will take part.
The Queen's Harbour Master is being contacted to gain official permission for the event to be held on Monday, June 3. The boats will hopefully start from where the bardges are currently anchored above the bridges.
Joyce Mepsted, deputy mayor and chairman of the golden jubilee committee, said this was a spectacular event which many could look forward to seeing on the day.
Stalls are still available for the day and if you would like to book one, contact John Poole on 01752 844450.
Concert
THE Saltash division of St John Ambulance is staging a fundraising concert by the Burraton Male Voice Choir and guests this Saturday.
All proceeds from the concert will go towards the Saltash division's appeal fund to equip its new ambulance, following last year's successful campaign to raise £40,000 to purchase the vehicle.
The concert will be held at Wesley Methodist Church and starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £3 for adults and £1 for children and are on sale at Bruce Reid's shop in Fore Street. They will also be available on the door.
Book sale
THE Usborne Books At Home scheme will be at Burraton Methodist Church hall next week.
The fair will be at the hall on March 25 from 9.30am to noon.
The event will also include a prize draw for Whizz-Kids, the charity that provides wheelchairs for disabled children.

Busy year
for choir
THERE was a good attendance at the AGM of Saltash Ladies Choir at Saltash Wesley Hall on Wednesday evening.
Chairman Helen Burke said it had been a busy year for the choir and as well as giving concerts they had sung at three weddings.
She thanked the committee for their hard work and said the choir had a strong and stable membership. The choir raised £250 for the National Children's Home in the past year. Musical director Linda Eastlake said they had done well in the past year and were already practising for several concerts planned for this year. She said they had enjoyed singing at the Eden Project this year for a television programme.
Eileen Hatch was thanked for her continued help, playing for the rehearsals and concerts during the year.
The committee was re-elected en-bloc.
Coffee
total
THE League of Friends of St Barnabas Hospital held a coffee morning on Saturday in the hospital day centre and raised £280.
