Fashion
show
MARIANNE Fashions of Saltash presented a fashion show at the Masonic Hall to raise money for the cystic fibrosis in children fund. The guest of honour was mayor of Saltash, Eve Storey.
It is expected that nearly £250 will have been raised. A cheque will be presented at a pantomime at the Athenaeum Theatre in Plymouth.
The models in the show were members of the Celia Blagdon School of Dancing.
College
open week
SALTASH College is having an open week from Monday, December 10, until Friday, December 14.
Those interested in discovering about the wide range of courses on offer at the college - from care to computing, and health to hairdressing - will be able to pop in for an informal tour and a chat.
Staff and students will be on hand to offer advice and answer any questions.
Library
concert
JON Salfield made a welcome return to Saltash Library on Saturday evening to give a flamenco guitar concert. A good crowd heard Ben give an interesting performance of traditional flamenco music.
Changes
to plans
AN application to change the house type on 20 plots, and build three additional properties, on land at Orchard Park, New Road, Saltash, was due to be discussed last night. Caradon councillors were to debate the proposal, by Corporate Builders Ltd.
Money for
church funds
ST Nicholas and St Faith Church bazaar, which was held at Saltash Guildhall on Saturday, made £1,049 for church funds.
SHADO
events
SALTASH Handicapped And Disabled Organisation held its Christmas bazaar at the SHADO Centre.
Raffle prize winners were J Barnett, Teresa Mitchell, Pat Wilton, Jackie Ashton, Maureen Ashton and Joan Langsford.
Afternoon talks and programmes have been enjoyed by members and the programme included a bingo session, a talk on policing by Julia Hosking and slides of Majorca by Amy Farnworth.
Other events have included an adverts quiz, slides of Alberta and the Rocky mountains presented by David Trewin, a quiz by Elsie Edgecumbe and slides from G Norris, which were greatly enjoyed. She showed slides of Malta, Syria, Pakistan and, to complete the tour, New York.
The SHADO programme for next year will be available before the last meeting of this year on December 19 when the club will hold a carol service at 1.45pm, when visitors will be welcome.
New members are welcome any time every Wednesday from January 9 at 1 30pm.

Successful
appeal
AN appeal which followed refusal of a planning application for installation of a bay window to the front elevation of Horsepool Cottage, St Mellion, has been successful.
The appeal was by Mrs P Short. The government inspector concluded the proposal did not significantly adversely affect the appearance and character of the cottage, which is on the corner of two lanes..
Christmas
bazaar
ST Anne's Residential Home, Callington Road, Saltash, is holding its Christmas bazaar today (Friday, December 7) at 10am.
The bazaar, which will be opened by Sue Hooper, will include various stalls and a grand Christmas raffle.
