80th anniversary dinner
THE 80th anniversary dinner of Saltash and district branch of the Royal British Legion was held in the senior rates mess at HMS Drake. Chairman, Bill Dent, thanked David (Tiny) Lockwood, and Jean Lacey, for organising the event, celebrated by 58 members, and also attended by Saltash mayor, Eve Storey, and her husband Jim. Mrs Storey said she knew how hard the RBL fund raises throughout the year to help those who suffered in, and after, conflicts. County chairman, Bob Barrett, said in his speech perhaps various servicemen's associations could look towards coming under one umbrella, as many now have few members. Also present was branch president, Phyllis Kitkatt.
