AN appeal has been lodged following a refusal by Caradon council of a plan for a site at Little Cutcrew, Tideford.

Rangers are

trail-blazers

SALTASH Rangers, who attended a Girl Guide camp in Canada this summer, have now gained their Trail 2000 badge with the help of a Lottery grant of £1,600.

Trail 2000 was the challenge set to the senior section of the Guide Association for the Millennium - members had to visit three of the UK Guide training centres during 2000 and get their 'passports' stamped.

The first trip in July involved 15 of them catching the train from Plymouth to Caersws in Wales where they stayed overnight in Bronierion, the Welsh training centre. Then in September the same 15 girls went to the senior section weekend at Foxlease in the New Forest where they took part in archery, canoeing and swimming etc.

The final weekend took them to Great Hautbois House, Norfolk. Ranger Guider, Susan Haley, said: 'To be able to visit these centres has been a great experience for the girls. Although three of them had been to Foxlease before none of the others had ever been to a training centre and this has opened their minds to the training opportunities and facilities the Association has to offer.' The Rangers are now planning a trip to the Irish training centre at Lorne, Northern Ireland next summer.

She enrolled as a nurse in 1983 at Southampton University Combined School of Nursing, and later studied sociology, psychology, history and English at Eastleigh College, Hampshire before gaining a LLB (Hons) degree at the University of Southampton.

Day for

the trail

THERE has been a call for children's activity sheets to accompany youngsters following Saltash's Heritage Trail.

The recent Partnership meeting heard that sheets with wildlife details, creativity features and puzzles were required. Ron Freeman said schools seemed to prefer such sheets after the children had been around the trail but some were needed for use while going around the trail. It was suggested the trail should also co-incide with Caradon Festival and people be encouraged to go around on October 21 between 2pm and 4pm. The charge will be £1, but that does not include entry to Elliots shop and Mary Newman's cottage. Members agreed with these plans - to go ahead on October 21.

Another

consultation?

AROUND 90 people attended the recent public consultation on the second phase of plans for the Waterside area in Saltash.

Partnership project officer, Louise Cox, gave a report of the consultation at the recent Saltash Partnership meeting. She said, however, that hardly anyone under 35 had attended, and she wondered if another such event should be held, this targeted at youth - with invitations given through the schools.

Brian Pedley suggested inviting all the town to a future consultation, the last being held at the Live Wire youth centre.
