Rhys Griffiths, a pupil at Brunel CP School, Saltash, and a member of Saltash Youth Football Club has just signed a contract to become a member of Plymouth Argyle's under-11 side. The ten-year-old has been a member of the Saltash club for about four years and has undergone extensive tests to qualify. The news was broken at the club's presentation evening held at Saltash Working Men's Club, by coach Barry Bunworth. Rhys had to compete in trials at Duchy College Development Centre, Bodmin, and then at Plymouth before he was accepted. Trophies were presented by chairman of the club Viv Gale and Plymouth Argyle goalkeeping coach Geoff Crudgington. There are 200 members in the Saltash Youth Football Club aged from five to 18 years old, including two girls teams.
