THE future redevelopment of the Waterside area of Saltash will feature at a public meeting on September 30.
The consultation meeting will be held at the Livewire Youth Project from l0am until 4pm, and people from throughout the town are invited to attend, look at the displays, and give their opinions.
The thoughts of both young and old are being sought about what is best and worst about the area between the two bridges and the sailing club. People will be asked to give details about the kind of activities they would like to see the Waterside used for in the future, as well as what should be kept or changed as part of any future redevelopment.
Saltash Partnership say improvement of the Waterside will not only benefit the community 'in terms of the recreation and amenity value' it could also bring economic benefits by making more of the increasing tourism and leisure market - particularly leisure activities centred on the river.
The recent Saltash Regeneration Study, by Atlantic Consultants, has indicated that redevelopment of the Waterside area is a key priority for Saltash, saying it is an undervalued resource.
Caradon council and Saltash Partnership have already completed extensive public consultation regarding the first phase of the Saltash Waterside project involving the Jubilee Green area, north of the bridges. Funding applications are being submitted, and details will be available for people to see.
To help residents travel to and from the event tomorrow Cotton's Taxis will be running a minibus free of charge. This will be at Callington Road, outside Westlake Funeral Directors, on the hour between llam-3pm, and outside St Stephen's church at half past the hour between 11.30am-2.30pm. The minibus will be going through Fore Street, stopping at the top end, on the way up and back from Livewire.
