I buried my beloved ginger cat 'Alfie' today (Saturday 30th October) having been told by a neighbour walking her dogs that she had seen a dead cat at the edge of the road along the back of Bonson Close and thought it was him

. He must have died either late on Friday night or in the early hours of Saturday morning. He never went too far afield but as with all cats he was a free spirit and he didn't wear a collar because of the risk of getting caught up on trees.

He was such a lovable character and it grieves me that at the tender age of 18 months his life has ended on a road where there is a speed limit of 15mph, which any experienced and attentive driver knows is a speed at which you can brake and stop quite easily if paying full attention and not exceeding that limit.

I will never know who or what hit him but I do hope it will deter anyone who uses that road to check their speed.
