AFTER a cancellation last year, the traditional Kit Hill Run returns next weekend. A team from Callington Community College and the Tamar Trotters Running Club has been hard at work ensuring that next Sunday's race once again features in Callington's annual calendar of events. The event includes three races. The fun run will start at 10am – with entry on the day costing £1 – and is suited to all the family, young and old alike. The starting gun for the more challenging Kit Hill Run will be heard at 11am. The run is over a distance of approximately five miles and takes the runners over a multi-terrain course. There will also be a schools' challenge race for primary schools across the area. The main run has two levels of entry – £5.50 (affiliated) and £7.50 (non-affiliated). Entries on the day of the race will cost an additional £1. Medical support for the event is being provided by St John Ambulance and the entire event is being supported by Callington Sport and Leisure, Callington Spar, Launceston Sports and Therapy Centre and Ginsters. 'Each year we see from the London Marathon just how popular running has become,' Richard Lumley, community co-ordinator at the college said. 'It is not just an excellent way of keeping in trim but also allows people to get together and have some fun in the community. 'We hope the town will turn out to support all the runners and enjoy the day.'
