A POLPERRO fundraiser teamed up with an endurance runner for some training ahead of the London Marathon. Zoe Maycox (pictured) has hit her target of £3,000 for the charity Brain Tumour Research, securing her place in the race on April 24. The 48-year-old got together with Ben Smith, who is completing 401 marathons in 401 consecutive days, for a run at Indian Queens. The last few weeks have been a challenge for Zoe; training has been difficult due to injuries, she says – but she is determined to be there at the starting gun for London 2016. ‘I am over the moon that so many people sponsored me, and I’d like to say a huge thank you,’ she said. ‘The GIs Association donated £110, and the physiotherapist at Fitfile in Liskeard is helping me out for free as I’m doing this marathon for charity. ‘Everyone can keep an eye out for me on April 24 as I will be carrying the Cornish flag with pride.’ Zoe will be running the marathon in memory of her friend, Andrew Cullum, who died from a brain tumour in 2014.
