A 14-YEAR-OLD from Liskeard will be competing in the finals of a national singing contest today.

Rosie Ugalde will be taking to the stage at the NEC in Birmingham as the Open Mic UK contest reaches its climax.

‘The contest has been a massive experience for Rosie,’ said mum Karen Timms.

‘Rosie was up against thousands of other entrants at the start and she is now in the final.

‘She is competing in the 16 and under category.

‘The final has an X Factor feel to it. Rosie will be doing a soundcheck early in the day and will be singing Ciao Adios by AnneMarie in front of the judges in the afternoon.

‘Winning would open up opportunities in the music industry.

‘Family and friends will be supporting Rosie at the finals.
