MRS Jeanne Brown of St John was presented with a retirement gift by Commodore Roger Lockwood when she retired after 15 years as the Civilian Personnel Management at HMS Raleigh.

Jeanne joined the MOD as a civil servant in 1961, in Hampshire, and has since held various posts moving the West country in 1980 to work with the Royal Marines at Stonehouse Barracks.

In her post at Raleigh, she delivered expert advice on civilian employment conditions and legislation. She was one of the original members of the Equal Opportunities Advisory Committee and made a significant contribution to the implement of equal opportunities within the work place, leading seminars on the subject.

She took part in sporting activities at the base, including the Dartmoor Fun walks and played badminton and has helped with numerous charities over the years. She will now be leading anything but a retiring life. As a member of the village hall committee in St John she is enthusiastically involved in helping to organise local activities.
