This Saturday sees the opening of an exhibition celebrating the life and work of print-artist Rena Gardiner at Cotehele, the National Trust property near Saltash.
‘Rena Gardiner: Art and inspiration’ marks the 20th anniversary of Gardiner’s summer residence at Cotehele and her death later that same year.
It features an exhibition in the Breakfast Room, where a number of her original prints of Cotehele are displayed and the processes behind the creation of her artwork are revealed. From lithographic plates to linoblocks, the tools of Gardiner’s trade are on display alongside her early sketches, drawings and the final prints.
The celebration continues outdoors, with reproductions of her artwork displayed in the places where she drew her inspiration in the garden and wider countryside.
