The Royal Navy Submarine School will hold a Service of Remembrance today, November 11, to honour their shipmates on eternal patrol.
Staff and trainees at the school will gather at the memorial to the unknown submariner, joined by representatives of the Submariners’ Association and other members of the silent service employed at HMS Raleigh.
Wreaths will be laid by Commander Irvine Lindsay, the Officer-in-Charge of the school, the youngest submariner under training and members of the Submariners’ Association.
Cdr Lindsay said: ’Our annual Service of Remembrance is a chance to show our gratitude to those members of the Submarine Service who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
’Their courage and bravery is an inspiration to us all and particularly to our trainees as they start out on a career dedicated to protecting our nation’s interests.’
