A SPECIAL service in Liskeard will offer people the chance to remember loved ones lost during the pandemic.
The RememberUs service at St Martin’s Church is open to all and will provide the opportunity to gather together, light a candle, and share in mourning, as well as celebrating the lives of those who have died.
It’s hoped that there’ll be music, singing and readings at the service, which will be led by the Reverend Steve Morgan.
Linda Dean is one of the organisers of the event. She said: “There have been so many people who’ve had family members die, and people have not had the chance to say goodbye in the manner they so deserve, because church funerals and crematoriums have had restrictions. Through 2020 and 2021 there were times when you were allowed to have 30 people. But we know of some who haven’t been able to have people at all. People haven’t been able to travel.
“Although the church had to be shut, its clergy and members were thinking of people and doing what they could to reach out throughout a very difficult time.
“Now that the church can be open again, we’d really like the community to know about this event so that they’ll join us to remember and celebrate the lives of all those who died during the pandemic.”
The RememberUs service will be held on Monday, November 1 at 7pm.
