This year's Liskeard Relay for Life event will be held at a new venue.

The event, which has raised almost £250,000 for Cancer Research UK to date, is to be held on the rugby pitch at Lux Park on May 28-29. Participants will take it in turns over a 24-hour period to walk laps of the field to celebrate and commemorate life while raising money to help beat cancer.

People surviving cancer will be able to take part in a survivors' lap of honour – and a candle of hope ceremony will take place at nightfall where candles will be lit and messages of hope read.

The event was officially launched by the Liskeard Relay for Life committee on Wednesday at Stuart House, with Laura Jewell and Chris Ferguson being the chairs for 2011.

Anyone interested in entering a team, taking part as a cancer survivor or finding out more about the event, can contact Laura Jewell on 07511 968573 or via email at [email protected]">[email protected]. Or visit the website at http://www.cancerresearch.org/relay">www.cancerresearch.org/relay
