Registration has opened for the annual British Heart Foundation (BHF) Swimathon, set to take place in Liskeard on November 24.

The fun event is the chance for groups of friends, family and colleagues to support the local branch of the BHF charity while also raising money for their own nominated causes.

Entry is open to all ages and people can participate as an individual or as part of a team.

The swimming can be as competitive or as relaxed as people like, says organiser Yvette Hayward.

‘Entry is free, but we ask people to raise as much money as possible for the BHF, however they can also elect to share the money they raise with a charity or cause of their choice,’ she said.

‘It can be an easy fundraiser for groups, with little organising needed other than finding some swimmers. Last year £1,129 went to other causes.’
