After 30 years of flying at Fowey Royal Regatta, the Red Arrows display team will not be appearing this year. The width of the ‘safety corridor’ below the display area has been highlighted as a problem. In previous summers, the Red Arrows have swooped over the Fowey estuary in stunning displays. In a statement, the regatta committee said: ‘Sadly, the rumours are true. Our only means of achieving the safety standard is to move the display out over the sea which simply won’t be the same. ‘This has led to a reluctant decision not to host the Red Arrows in 2016. Some new surprises are being planned.’
