Residents can find out more about plastic recycling at the Cornwall Gateway Community Network Panel’s annual general meeting on Tuesday, June 27 at St Germans Community Centre.

Cornwall Council’s household recycling scheme is expanding to include plastic pots, tubs and trays, and collections start in south-east Cornwall during the last week in July.

The panel will receive an update on the progress of the scheme and details of the types of plastic containers that can be recycled.

As this is the annual general meeting, the panel will elect a chair for the next 12 months and set its priorities for the area with a view to influencing Cornwall-wide strategies, local service delivery and local projects.

There will also be time for public questions and a chance to meet local Cornwall, town and parish councillors.

Cornwall Gateway Network Panel meets quarterly.  Some of the areas that community networks focus on include anti-social behaviour, economic development, the environment, community planning, regeneration, conservation, community safety, transport and highway issues.

The panel includes all eight Cornwall Councillors for the area and representatives of the 11 parishes in the community network: Antony, Botus Fleming, Landrake with St Erney, Landulph, Maker-with-Rame, Millbrook, Saltash, Sheviock, St Germans, St John and Torpoint.

The meeting takes place from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at St Germans (Eliot Hall) Community Centre, Fore Street, St Germans. The meeting is open to the public and everyone is welcome to come along.
