In the Cornish Times newsroom we’ve again been busy producing three editions of your favourite local paper packed with news: the main edition, and the recently-launched Saltash and Bodmin editions.

The main edition leads with the story of how a South East Cornwall solicitors’ office has been forced to close down after investigators raided the premises and seized documents, computers and cash.

We also have news and pictures of a local care home owner receiving a lifetime achievement award and report that a former Liskeard bank building is up for auction.

The Saltash edition also features background to the solicitors’ office raid, reporting that the missing sole partner had until recently been head coach and regular supporter of a Saltash sports club – indeed, police officers went to a training ground looking for him.

Inside we report that Saltash Town Band has achieved recognition in a major championships, that a schoolgirl from the town has started charity fundraising at the age of just six, and that the China Fleet Country Club has agreed to continue its support for a basketball club.

The Bodmin edition leads with the news that the town’s former MP has been advised to avoid attending hustings events after receiving death threats. Inside we have profiles on those standing for North Cornwall for the various parties, and we report that the Bodmin and Wenford steam railway has started work on creating a second platform at Bodmin General station by removing rails – don’t worry, the track will soon be back for the line’s popular Santa trains.

In all editions we have a double-page spread of pictures and a report on the youngsters who took part in the Cornish Times-sponsored Primary School Cross Country event at the brand new venue of Fursdon Farm in Horningtops. It proved challenging for many.

We also feature pictures of Cornwall College students who raised funds for Children in Need by spending a night locked in the college undertaking challenges. Meanwhile other students have been quizzing election candidates in the South East Cornwall constituency – we have a general round-up to help readers decide on how they’re going to vote too.

We also report that a scheme which began with a Torpoint headteacher and her policeman husband to help child witnesses of domestic abuse has been named the world’s top policing initiative of 2019.

Other stories include a memorial event that was held in honour of a former Liskeard town and county councillor, a worker at Trago Mills who has had her head shaved for charity, and children who joined their parents for a ‘day at the office’ on Take Your Child to Work Day.

In our Farming and Equestrian section we’re giving our readers a chance to win tickets to the Westcountry Equine Fair at Westpoint, Exeter, and we also have a two-page round-up of where to find the best Point-to-Point action around the region.

We also have lots of your community news and pictures and regular columns such as Ray Roberts’ Nature Watch, your Letters, TV Choice and latest Books. This week’s editions also have Leisure, Antiques, Property and Motoring sections, plus a 10-page The Magic of Christmas pullout on festive lights switch-ons and other Yuletide celebrations around Mid and South East Cornwall.

You can also read about the origins of Advent calendars and the tasty treats they contain, and to help your own festivities to go with a swing each issue of the Cornish Times includes a carol book full of popular favourites.

There are also a bumper 11 pages of Sport with content tailored to the three editions.
