Organisers of the first Great Trethew Vintage Rally were delighted to present cheques to a raft of local good causes.

The three-day steam rally over the August Bank Holiday, held for the first time near Horningtops as a successor to the Morval Rally, exceeded the expectations of the organising team.

Speaking at the time, chairman Mike Elford said he had not been expecting to make a profit in the first year – and that he had been ‘absolutely overwhelmed’ by the success of the event.

A celebration buffet dinner held at the Elliot House Hotel was the chance for Mr Elford to present cheques to the Liskeard and Torpoint Scouts, the Lions Club of Liskeard, the Cornwall Blood Bikes, and the Liskeard and Looe Rugby Club.
