Sailors from HMS Raleigh have been putting their recently acquired team-working skills to use by helping out in the local community.

The sailors, who recently completed their basic training, have lent their support to a heritage project at Whitsand Bay Fort and also helped clear a pathway at Seaton Valley Countryside Park.

Working alongside the charity Hidden Heritage at the Fort, the sailors carried out a range of jobs.

Members of the team helped shift donated World War 2 Anderson Shelters, filled sand-bags for a World War 1 trench display and dug a tunnel.

Paul Diamond founded Hidden Heritage in 2013 to promote and preserve history, particularly the Plymouth defences along the Rame Peninsula.

At Seaton Valley Countryside Park another team of eight helped to shift pieces of the board-walk which had been eroded in the recent bad weather.
