QUIZ fans are already sharpening their pencils and their brains in time for the annual event organised by the Friends of Looe Community School which draws entries from far and wide. Usually held as an excellent fundraiser for the school the plans have changed this year and all monies raised on the night will be in aid of the victims of the Tsunami in Asia. The event takes place on Friday, January 23, at 7.30pm. There was much excitement at the 2004 quiz when the crown long held by The Seasiders was toppled by new winners, the Elfords and Callagans. As usual the event is open to anyone who wants to join in from the dedicated 'quiz tourers' to pub, clubs, families, groups of friends and of course students. Questions will be across a wide spectrum ably compiled by popular quiz master, the deputy head Tom Saddler. Teams, up to six, will be charged £2 per player. There will be a bar and refreshments. People can just turn up on the night or call the school to register in advance. A cake stall in aid of the Tsunami disaster has already been held and a disco for students only, is taking place on Friday, January 28. A mufti day will also be held on the same date.
