LOOE Community School will be the venue for this year's pre-election debate. All candidates for the South East Cornwall constituency have been invited to attend and speak at the event, which will take place at Looe Community School on Thursday, April 28, from 7pm. So far, Liberal Democrat Colin Breed and Conservative Ashley Gray have both confirmed that they will attend. The 'Question Time'-style debate is being organised by the Looe Town Forum in co-operation with South East Cornwall Tourism Association (SECTA) and the Looe, Polperro and District Chamber of Trade and Commerce. The questions are being chaired by Peter Bishop, press officer for SECTA. John Charnock, chairman of the Looe Town Forum, said: 'We are pleased to provide this opportunity for the electorate in this constituency to challenge the candidates on their policies and to voice their concerns through what we hope will be wide-ranging questions.' Questions from members of the public need to be submitted prior to the meeting in order to guarantee a good cross section of discussion topics. The last pre-election debate, in 2001, saw around 100 people in attendance. To register a question before the debate contact Peter Bishop on (01503) 264351 or Edwina Arkell on (01503) 264160. Alternatively, questions can be e-mailed to [email protected]">[email protected] or edwinaarkell@ btconnect.com.
