On Tuesday 17 July, four talented students from the Royal College of Music will be performing an exclusive concert at Boconnoc House.

Each year a group of musicians are chosen from hundreds of students at the Royal College of Music are chosen as the winners of the Boconnoc Music Award.

The award was established by Anthony and Elizabeth Fortescue, owners of Boconnoc, in 2012.

The prize constitutes a week’s residency on the estate, with all travel, lodging and costs covered, providing a valuable opportunity for the musicians to work intensively on repertoire and technique in a private and unique environment.

This year the Kandour Quartet, formed in October 2017, take centre stage.

Comprising postgraduate students Aleem Kandour, Iona Allan, Nazli Erdogan, and Robbie Stanley-Smith, they will perform a number of classical pieces in the Garden Room.

The group take up residence on the estate in July and will perform two concerts to the public; one at Boconnoc Church on July 19 and one at Boconnoc House on July 17.

Previous winners of the award have gone on to do a wide range of work from project managing the Michael Kamen Music Collection to playing with the Birmingham Royal Ballet and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
