Students at Liskeard School and Community College are learning about the basics of banking as part of their PSCHE studies thanks to the NatWest Face to Face with Finance scheme. With the help of Karen Ugalde, who work at NatWest's Liskeard branch, year 11 pupils are taking part in interactive classes which help them understand more about what banks do, the different types of account, and the practical tasks of budgeting and managing their money. Mark Lemin, head if PSCHE at the college said: ' It is very important that they gain basic money management skills, and the activities are an extremely practical and fun way of doing this, and bringing alive what happens in real life.' Said Karen: 'The importance of financial capability for young people cannot be underestimated, as its essential that they are equipped with the skills and confidence required to make decisions in adult life.' Since its launch in 1994, almost 3,000 schools in England and Wales have benefited from the scheme.
