A pub which closed this week following a confirmed positive case of coronavirus has reopened today.

The Railway Hotel in Saltash said that it had worked with Public Health England and that all nine staff members have now been tested negative for the virus.

Gloria and Neil Challen, who run the Railway as well as the Bullers Arms in Landrake, thanked people that have come out in support over the past couple of days, including one local business who sent flowers ’and kind words’.

The Challens also said they had taken screen shots of all negative and abusive comments directed at their pubs and themselves as a family since Monday’s closure – and that they would consider refusing entry to people they could identify.

This morning’s news was welcomed by customers, many of whom sympathised with the difficulty for publicans and those in the hospitality trade in managing re-opening under the new guidelines.
