This year’s donations to the Poppy Appeal in Looe stand at more than £8,000 and counting, says the town’s Royal British Legion (RBL) branch, which is busy planning further events.

A stall in the Rose Garden for Armed Forces Day raised more than £730 to be shared between the Looe Poppy Appeal and the Cornwall RBL Welfare Fund, said member and town councillor Dave Welch.

‘A further charity event is planned for Saturday, August 27, when a Quiz and Pasty Night will be held in the Portbyhan Hotel,’ said Cllr Welch.

‘Proceeds will again be shared between the Poppy Appeal and the Cornwall RBL Welfare Fund. Look out for posters around the town.
