I AM writing to you about an incident which happened on Saturday, October 1, and in praise of your local emergency services. We arrived at St Martins, Looe, for a week's holiday at 2pm. At 4pm my son and I found my wife lying unconscious on the floor of our log cabin. As she has recently had two heart attacks and is a long term diabetic we were at a loss to know the symptoms. I dialled 999 and reported the incident and was given instructions over the phone as to the action to take. In less than 10 minutes a young lady medic arrived from Looe and began procedures. Two minutes later a paramedic, an ambulance and a helicopter appeared. The response time was unbelievable, far quicker than in our inner cities. Fortunately a diabetic coma was diagnosed and the appropriate treatment given. Eventually my wife responded and after ascertaining that she would be fine these unsung heroes left. Who they were and where they came from we do not know but we would like to thank them, through your newspaper for their promptness and professionalism.
