PROGRESS is being made towards solving problems surrounding flood defence proposals in a riverside village.

Environment Agency plans for Calstock prompted objections from local people worried that new defences would threaten land used for local events and create a 30-metre breach in a popular riverside walk.

The concerns prompted meetings involving South East Cornwall MP Sheryll Murray and a consultation morning staged by Calstock Parish Council. Now, says the council, revised plans ‘meet many of the concerns of local people’.
