An animal charity in South East Cornwall is hoping to unearth facts from the past.

The Monkey Sanctuary at Murrayton, near Looe, run by primate rescue and conservation charity Wild Futures, saves primates from the pet trade.

Staff have a collection of photographs dating back to the early 1900s of the original Murrayton House that was built in 1854 by Liskeard man William Murray.

The pictures also show the surrounding grounds and give an insight into the Murray family and their lifestyle.

Jessica Stevens, of the charity, said: ‘We hope to gather as much historical information about the family, the grounds and how its use has changed over the years, with the intention of producing a historical account of Murrayton House.

‘If local people have information regarding the history of the house we would love to be informed.’
