Crowds watched as more than 70 competitors took part in Saltash Rugby Club's annual New Year's Day pram race. The bright sunshine encouraged plenty of spectators to line the route, despite the cold conditions.
Organised by Tony Hopkins, this year's event was to raise money to help ten-week-old Maddison (Maddy) Moore, of Saltash, who was born with a heart defect and admitted to hospital at two weeks old with meningitis. At ten weeks old Maddy had only been home for a day and a half, spending a lot of time at Southampton Hospital.
More than £1,300 was raised during the race around the public houses of Saltash, with 19 teams, all dressed in a variety of costumes, stopping for a beer at each pub on the course and finally ending at the rugby club where the race had originally started.
Maddy's mother, Lisa Wright, said the money would be used to help with transport to the hospital and that some would be donated to the children's ward at Southampton Hospital, where Maddy has been looked after.
Mr Hopkins thanked all the landlords, and all those who supported the event.
