CAROLINE Petherick of St Martin by Looe is in full praise of dog owners who have helped to clean up Seaton beach in the aftermath of the recent storms which caused havoc and damage along the local coastline. 'A lot of hard work has been done by a lot of people, but I'd like to give credit where it's due to dog owners, who are often seen as a nuisance,' says Caroline. 'At Seaton beach as shown in last week's paper, huge heaps of seaweed were cast up by the storms. What the photographer didn't capture however, were the huge heaps of litter, including large numbers of plastic containers and bottles, making the beach look like a giant rubbish tip.' Caroline says that the rubbish was gathered up and disposed of not only by Caradon Council workers, but also by many of the people who walk their dogs on the beach. 'Caradon has followed this up by sending out a digger to dispose of the seaweed and the beach now looks lovely again,' she added.
