A LISKEARD postman is preparing to run the London Marathon in aid of charity Beating Bowel Cancer.
Paul Wagstaff, who lives in Darite and works out of the Liskeard office, knows first hand how important his fundraising is – as he was diagnosed with the disease himself three years ago.
Now recovered, Paul had to take around three-and-a-half months off work and will continue to have regular checks.
'The doctors never thought I'd be back to work doing the job I'm doing,' said Paul.
'Last year I was watching the marathon on TV, feeling sorry for myself, and I thought "I'm going to do that", so I am.'
Having never run before, Paul, 49, has been training hard for several months, and says he is determined he will finish the race.
Paul says his partner and two teenage children are very proud of him, and he thanked everyone at work and on his rounds who has been generous in supporting him.
To help Paul's marathon for Beating Bowel Cancer visit Liskeard Post Office, where there is a collection box.
