HUNDREDS of knitted and crocheted poppies will provide added colour to First World War commemorations in Liskeard. A group has been creating the woollen flowers ahead of Remembrance Day – and there will be the chance to join in at Liskeard's second Wool Market next Friday (September 26). The 3 Bags Full Wool Market will build on the success of a similar event last year which attracted more than 300 people. It will feature a range of stalls for those who love to wear, play and work with wool, as well as refreshments, music and free children's activities. Organisers will be providing free yarn and patterns for anyone wanting to make a knitted poppy for Remembrance Day and experienced crafters will be on hand to help. 'We had great feedback about the wool market last year from customers and traders,' said Rachel Brooks, of the 3 Bags Full group. 'This year we're adding an extra dimension to enable people to enjoy making a poppy and join in the commemoration of the First World War.' The wool market will be at Liskeard Public Hall from 3-7pm. Anyone who can't make it to the wool market but would like to be involved in making a poppy should email [email protected]">[email protected] for free patterns. Finished poppies can be dropped in to Stuart House.
