With one week left of the 1999-2000 Torpoint Pool season, the race for second spot is hotting up with the Mark of Friendship just holding on by a one-point margin over the King Pins.
Mark found it tough going against local rivals Millbrook Football Club this week. Mark led 4-2 after the singles but Football Club came back to just lose 5-4 with two of the three doubles.
The King Pins took advantage of a short Mosquito side and beat them 9-0 closing the gap from last week's five points to just one point behind the Mark of Friendship. K Harris, N Webb, W Cooper, M Webb, N A Miller and M Lyon were all singles winners for the King Pins, Kevin Harris having an eight-ball in his match for the King Pins.
Wilcove Warriors, who became champions again last week, found the opposition once again struggling to find their feet and it was no surprise that the Warriors came out 8-1winners at home to 200 Club B. The only winner for the 200 B was Mark Lee, beating Jules Cook 2-1 in their singles match.
200 Club A will finish no less than fourth spot after their good 7-2 home win over the Carbeile C. T Endean, N Davies, K Davies, D Notman, R Rice and C Allsop all won their singles for the 200 A. Carbeile B were all square after their singles at home to the Kings A this week with L Carroll, A Hall and B Hartley the Carbeile B winners with S McCann, I Canty and C Andrews replying for the Kings A. Carbeile B took two of the three doubles for a 5-4 narrow victory.
Final game of the week saw the Wheelers B come up with a fine home victory over the Wilcove Hotshots by 7-2. This win lifts the Wheelers B up into sixth position with just one match to play.
