Many thanks to everyone who took part in the League this season - generally a season free of incident with nowhere near as many fines as in previous years. In fact, there was only one incidence of a team failing to show for a match without prior notice but there were more players transferring illegally after the transfer deadline. The latter are dealt with further on!
Unfortunately, in Divisions 2, 3 and 4, there were a few matches that were never played. There is only so much phoning around that I can do to try and get these played and it is very frustrating to be ignored.
The Committee will be discussing what action to take to avoid this situation in future and may well re-introduce fines for late cards, if only to prompt notification of postponed games and instigators thereof.
Presentation Evening
The Committee have changed the venue for this years presentation on Friday 12 May - it will now be held at Jay Arthurs (formerly Henries) in Fore Street, East Looe. There is no charge for entry and proceedings will commence at 8:00pm.
World Rules
The subject of much strong feeling, World Rules were discussed at the AGM on 12th September last year and a vote was taken on whether they should be instigated as of the 2000/2001 season.
The vote was unanimously in favour but this will have to be ratified at the next AGM when the original vote could conceivably be overturned. Having spoken to many players on this subject, it is clear that even those individuals against the introduction of World Rules accept that we must move forward and bring our League in line with the vast majority of other local leagues.
This will re-open the opportunity for our players to play in Interleague and County competitions - something that we are cannot do effectively at present.
Disciplinary Matters
The following is a summary of the season's fines:-
Team Fines - Henries A fined £10 for failing to show away to the Marquee A; Henries E fined £10 for late cancellation of away game against the Lugger.
