Polperro Fishermen’s Choir, pictured here with accompanist Lorraine Forsdick, continues to provide one of Cornwall’s 10 best ‘free secrets’, according to a recently-published book.

Listing the choir’s free Wednesday evening concerts on Polperro Fish Quay in her book Cornwall for Free, author Rachael Rowe says the singing ‘is a delight to hear as the sun goes down over the sea’. The final concert this year will take place on August 31 at 7.30pm.

The concerts raise many hundreds of pounds for charities and good causes, which this year include Children’s Hospice South West and the Looe Memory Cafe.

Choir members also appear in Polperro’s Ship Inn at 9.30pm on most Wednesdays throughout the year, performing Cornish and traditional songs, shanties and 1960s numbers as the Polperro Wreckers.
