Liskeard’s Conservative Cornwall Councillors have held onto their seats in a day where their party has made great gains across the county.

Jane Pascoe and Nick Craker have been returned for Liskeard South and Dobwalls and Liskeard Central respectively.

With almost three quarters of the results now confirmed, the Conservatives have the lion’s share so far, stealing seats from the Liberal Democrats in several places.

On the Rame Peninsula there is celebration for the Labour Party where Kate Ewert has won the seat, the first time that it has been held by a Labour candidate.

Having stood candidates in every division in South East Cornwall, the Labour Party has not made as many inroads as it might have hoped.

Colin Martin, Liberal Democrat, has held onto his seat in the expanded division of Lostwithiel and Lanreath.

And Edwina Hannaford keeps her seat in Looe West, Pelynt, Lansallos and Lanteglos.

In the expanded division of Callington and St Dominic, Andrew Long remains in his long-held seat representing Mebyon Kernow.
