Police were called to Whitsand Bay earlier this afternoon after cars parked by beach-goers prevented buses from getting through.
Plymouth City Bus said that the no. 70 service has now had to take a diversion and that Whitsand Bay would not have any service for the time being. One person commenting on a Torpoint social media page said it was 'mayhem' at Tregantle, while another said 'Buses were stuck either side as the cars were parked, creating a bad bottleneck.' Another person said he had cycled past and seen a bus having to reverse back up the hill, and that he had 'counted about 35 parking tickets on cars'.
In a tweet the bus operator said: ’Due to parked cars we are unable to serve Tregantle in both directions. Police are in attendance. In the meantime the service is having to operate via Hounster Hill. Apologies for any inconvenience however this is something out of our control.’
