POLICE in Callington are asking to be informed as soon as possible of any public event in the forthcoming year. Sgt John Frazer, Callington's neighbourhood police sergeant, said: 'We are always pleased to discuss the policing of public events in the Callington sector with their organisers, especially if there are road safety issues involved. 'We have, however, been asked to assist sometimes with relatively short notice. This has an impact on our own planning of duties and leave. 'I am asking organisers of any forthcoming event this year to give us as much notice as possible so we can liaise with them at an early stage and enable all the parties involved to work towards a satisfactory conclusion.'
